Manga vs Anime?

There's a hell of a lot of manga/anime based art on dA.
My manga experience extends no further than the Gibli Studio releases and old school stuff like Akira so i don't pretend to know all the sub genres or terminology but below is a selection some different stuff that to me seems to come from that kind of background.
